The Pros And Cons Of School Violence

Everyone has been involved in some type of school violence. In our days it is very hard to avoid. There are many types of school violence, like bullying, fights, using weapons, dating violence and so on. Although not everyone is the victim, some students could also be a perpetrator or a witness. Studies have shown that school violence happens because of a students behavior, anger issues and mental disorders. School violence should not be tolerated, there are ways that we can prevent it, but the main goal is to stop school violence from happening in the first place. Although, we know the most common forms of student violence are: Bullying, shoving, fighting and name calling. There are other ways of violence that some do not believe could happen in our schools. These acts of violence are Gang violence, assault with or without weapons, and there are other various ways that could cause injury to your student. For example, there were about 749,200 nonfatal violent victimization among students ages 12 to 18 in the year 2012. But, there are ways that we could try to prevent them. Although this issue cannot be solved overnight, everyone needs to be involved in the prevention of school violence. We need to educate ourselves and our children on this topic. We also need to show more love and affection to our children. We can also help by writing to our school district and mayor, expressing how we need more security in our school. Call them and let them know our children need help from the faculty, tell them to add the mandatory classes mentioned earlier. We all need to be apart of this issue. As Tom Bodett once said “In school you 're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you 're given a test that teaches you a lesson”.
