A common ethical problem in the practice of a school social worker is securing the privacy of ones client can be difficult because of schools not providing a private room. This occurs since many school social workers go to numerous schools. Another dilemma that occurs is not allowing physical contact between a school social worker and its client. Many children just want a hug, however by not being aloud to do so it may send the wrong message to the client that could potentially cause emotional harm to the client. A major dilemma that occurs in this field is a school social worker may not be able to provide proper assistance to its clients because of the amount of caseloads a typical school social worker works with (Sabatino, 2014). Lastly, another major ethical dilemma is that since a large portion of the client population are minors, so they do not have all the rights to make their own decisions. School social workers link their clients to sources that they are already linked up to. A school social worker can have parents of their clients get involved in their child’s schooling. For example, in a title one school in a western state there was a study conducted where school social workers linked parents to their child’s school as a form of empowerment. In return there was an improvement within the school, parents, and the children. The parents felt more worthy because they knew how their children were being treated in the school and knew more of what was occurring within the school. (Social Workers
