(“Marriage”) In Oklahoma, we think of it as some form for only a male and female to become unified. We Oklahomans are the 9th in the Top Conservative States in the United States. Being so conservative and being in the heart of the Bible Belt we fail to respect most of the Homosexual Unions in our states. In Oklahoma, Sane-Sex should be viewed as normal marriage and accepted, because Homosexuality has and will be around for a long time, and we have bigger issues to worry about …show more content…
A year after, on June 28, 1970, the first pride parade was held on Christopher Street. It was a 51 block long parade which led to Central Park. By 1972, the phenomenon caught on and many cities around the world began to show their pride around the world. Soon in 2000, Bill Clinton would declare June as Pride Month. People today are so proud of who they are. Even in Oklahoma, the pride parade here has been around since 1988. Going on for so long and so strong for almost 28 years. Bringing in thousands of people for the equality of love. Also having an organization called “Freedom Oklahoma” which helps LGBT people from all over the state. Many of people advocating on social media, proudly posting pictures with their partners on Instagram, and fighting on twitter for the right of equality. It is amazing to live in such a time as this, where everyone is proud of being themselves. Yes there are plenty who love and respect homosexuals, but they 're some who are homophobic. Homophobia is defined as "irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals". Living in Oklahoma, we live in the middle of the bible belt. Also in the Old Testament it was wrong to eat meat, cutting the hair on the sides of your head, and planting more than one seed in a field. Most of these are goofy silly rules that we christians do all the time with no regrets. Christianity constantly ridicules homosexuals and recently you cannot be accepted into the mormon church if your parents are homosexuals. I honestly think even if the bible is completely accurate, you should still promote love and acceptance of christ. Most people here in Oklahoma also have the complaint of that it is not natural, and you can’t naturally conceive in a same sex relationship. Even if that was completely true, 11.9% or 7.4 million of women have received infertility treatment in their lifetime. Does that mean that those 7.4 million of those women in couples are not in natural couples? Exactly. Nowadays, in-vitro fertilization makes it to where one of the spouses in the homosexual relationship can be the actual parent of the

This day became an unofficial holiday of sorts for all of Harlem. Many black school children were dismissed from school so that they could attend the parade. The parade became a marker of African American service to the nation, a frequent point of reference for those campaigning for civil rights. Herbert Hoover, head of the Commission for Relief in Belgium famously said, “This parade ushered in the Harlem Renaissance and the New Negro”. However, change was far from instantaneous.…

Human beings are a very interesting species. We look for patterns in our fellow beings, and form opinions about those people that shape how we treat them. Such patterns in these people are called stereotypes, and they are more prominent when the patterns are uncommon. Same-Sex Marriage in New York "Who would give a law to lovers? Love is unto itself a higher law" ("Boethius"), a quote stated by a Roman philosopher Anicius Manlius Severinus Boëthius in 524 (Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius - Biography). Obviously, laws have nothing to do to interfere the love in theory; however, as the discrimination that homosexual people receive for a long period, people in New York has to fight for their equal right to have the law and live under the protection of it. Just like Boethius states, it is ironic that love have to be approved. No body could judge love; ridiculously, almost everybody gives discrimination to unusual love.…

Gay marriage is an issue that is similar to nearly every controversial issue in America History. Most conscientious social issues in America life begin with a large majority of traditionalists pushing back, then some dramatic event event will usually occur, following that public opinion will slowly start to even out, and eventually past actions/ideas will be seen as prejudiced. It's like America collectively goes through the stages of grief before we see social justice: Denial, a lot of anger, barraging, sadness, and then finally acceptance. Along with million of Americans who felt similarly, we saw denial in Senator Jesse Helms by saying that homosexuals were morally wrenched, and believing that homosexuality was a choice. Collectively, we saw the anger in families across the country disowning their children; similarly there was anger in the viscous murder of Matthew Shepard.…

Throughout the 1900’s there was a lot of things built up against the United States, from WWII to the civil rights movements there was plenty for the citizens and the government to deal with. One important part of this time that people forget is the attacks and discrimination of different homosexual groups within this time. Thus it is believed that the U.S. should have gotten involved in stopping any persecution of homosexual individuals or groups in the 1900’s because, if they had done something then there might not be any of the difficulties and misunderstanding that there is today. One prime example of this was during WWII. Today when the topic of this horrible period is brought up the first thought is that of the thousands of Jews taken,…

There are heterosexuals who do not bear children because they are not able or thy do not wish to get a child, and they are not discriminated. Therefore same-sex couples should not be prevented from marrying based on the reason that they cannot bear children. Other studies which have been carried out shows that children from same-sex marriages are psychologically healthy like other children from heterosexual marriages. There is also no evidence which shows that same-sex marriages have destroyed the institution of marriage because there are states which have legalized same-sex marriages (Herek, Gillis, & Cogan, 2015). In the countries where same-sex marriages have been legalized evidence shows that the gays and lesbian couples are stronger that heterosexual couples.…
