Not too long ago, homosexual man and woman were victims of physical and verbal violence. Just because they were born with a different preference, they were insulted, discriminated, beaten and isolated from society. They were the ones being shamed for what they were, and made to believe that what they felt towards another individual was morally wrong and against humanity. Over the past decades same-sex relations were never considered, until same-sex marriage was approved as law in all 50 states. This had allowed the threshold of gay rights to become expanded; resulting in many gay marriages at a certain period, (this is presented by the following image) (Granlund).

As we all know, societal views and attitudes are often difficult to modify, especially if opposing beliefs had been around for a long time. For most of our years growing up, our caretakers have implemented the idea that men and women we destined to fall in love, to form a family, and have children. Thus, this might be the reason why ignorance was thriving and why it still might be by conserved by older generations. Because older individuals were mostly raised in heterosexual homes, most of these people believe that “children need a mother and a father to have proper male and female role models” and therefore oppose same-sex marriage (“Overview”). In order to clarify this dispute, various studies have in fact proved that children get their role models from different places in society and not only their family (Witt). If you think about it, patterns of thought come from media, school and friends or family, therefore there is actually been no single place where we can judge upon what affects us most, because everything we experience in our lives affects the person we …show more content…
Owing to the fact that homosexual relationships involve same gender roles, this may act as an advantages in their romantic relations and in society. Homosexuals create an environment that is open and comfortable, by transcending their good vibes even when problems arise. Specifically, " . . . lesbian[s] . . . tend to begin discussing their problems with a more positive attitude than do heterosexual couples" (Wagner). Because partners establish good communication skills as well as an understanding of how to approach another, this may aid them to achieve a well adjusted life. Several findings have found that homosexual relations are ". . . more likely than heterosexual couples to negotiate a balance between achieving a fair distribution of household labor and accommodating the different interests, skills, and work schedules of particular partners” (Wagner). Due to the established equilibrium, same-sex marriage may actually create special connections, that opposite sex marriage will never be able to understand. Because both companions are so similar; emotional and physical, both partners will no longer need to separate when one’s desires are not fulfilled, because in homosexual marriages same interest are result. For instance, in such relationships if one desires to go to the nail salon the other can follow with no consequence, meanwhile in opposite sex
