Prostitution is an occupation that has always existed and always will exist. It is something that starts in the street and ends at the cheapest hotel. This is also one of the oldest professions to exist, known more commonly in the past as escorting. Escorts were not very uncommon in the past, the police did not enforce the law as much either, making it easier for prostitute to openly be out in public. Interpretations of prostitution have affected a wide range of people; from those needing a career after leaving a country to those just struggling to pay for college. The people that are in favor of keeping prostitution illegal think that, if legalized, it would cause human trafficking to increase. Brain DeShazer, for example, says that he believes it would only expand on the complications of the main issue, which is the abuse and human trafficking of children (Prostitution). However, if a trust is gained between police and sex workers, they may be able to even find and bust where a lot of human trafficking goes on. If legalized, the prostitutes no longer have a reason to fear police officials and may be more willing to help. There are two sides that want to prevent the same thing, but in different ways.
