Donald J. Trump, who some would say is the definition of an American businessman is currently in the running to be the new United States President. This republican candidate is now in the top of the polls using his dominant personality and strong views. Donald Trump has six main positions for his 2016 presidential campaign. Three positions that seem to be the main focus are Immigration Reform, Second Amendment Rights, and Veteran’s Administration Reform.
Donald Trump’s immigration reform is a topic that gets brought up almost anytime his name is spoken. Trump believes that many times veterans are dying simply because the care they needed was either unavailable or did not arrive soon enough. “Over 300,000 veterans died waiting for care [this year]” (Trump 1). If elected as the new President, Donald Trump wants to make sure that every veteran will have access to the best care possible. He also wants to give these veterans options and stated, “No more long drives. No more waiting for backlogs. Just the care and support they earned with their service to our country” (Trump 3). With this new plan, Trump wants to make sure that veterans with PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, get the help they need as well. PTSD is a serious factor when coming back from the war. It is documented that, “About 6 of every 10 (or 60%) of men and 5 of every 10 (or 50%) of women experience at least one trauma in their lives” (Kessler 1). With the rise of female veterans, Trump wants to show support by supplying these women with the right care. All VA hospitals will have an OBGYN as well as other health services.
