When one thinks of the Russian and U.S. President they think of high tension, hostility and egocentrism. Throughout the last one hundred years the United States and the governments that have encompassed Russia have had a hostile relationship. During the Col War, there were times that both America and the Soviet Union were on the brink of a Nuclear War. Eventually as the Soviet Union fell and the new Russian government was established hostility began to arise again. Currently the relationship between America’s Barrack Obama and Russia’s Vladimir Putin can be described as just as bad as relations were during the darkest times of the Cold War. However, this is not an essay over President Barrack Obama and President Vladimir Putin. Rather, this …show more content…
The definition of a head of state is that it is the highest-ranking position granted in a constitution in a sovereign state. With that being said, both the Russian and U.S. Presidents are required to take a symbolic role as something similar to a king or queen. Both the Presidents are supposed to represent a living symbol of their nations. Required in this aspect is for both the Presidents to be an inspirational example for the people. Various situations where one might see the two Presidential systems performing this duty are making a patriotic speech on the fourth of July for the U.S. for either Russia Day or Defender of the Motherland Day for the Russian Federation President. One might also see a President of either Russia or the U.S.A. by either congratulating an astronaut on their journey into space or an Olympic athlete or team winning gold in the Olympic games. Awarding medals to civilians for valiant or prestigious acts is also another aspect in which one might see the President of both countries exercising. Overall, as the head of state both the Russian and U.S. President must represent the highest values and ideals of both of their …show more content…
When a significant representative from another country travels to either country you will see the President greeting him or her. Either President is the leading person in entertaining a key diplomat at the White House or Kremlin. When there is a significant issue in global politics you will also see each President as the chief diplomat for their country, when the issue revolves around diplomacy. When there is a high amount of tension in a situation between a country and either Russia or the U.S. you will also see the President being the chief diplomat for their country. Both Presidents represent their countries in key global meetings for such activities as peace and economics. For example, both President’s represented their countries in the G20 summit and President Putin would have represented Russia in the G8 summit (now G7) if Russia had not been suspended. To coincide with being chief diplomat, both Russia and the U.S. President’s appoint the diplomats and ambassadors that will represent their countries to other governments around the
