The Pros And Cons Of President Barack Obama

Horrendous national debt, terrorism, and unemployment: these are only a few of the problems facing the United States, and you can thank President Barack Obama for being the primary cause of them. If there was one historical event I could change, I would change the outcome of the 2008 election. I often wonder if Barack Obama was elected over John McCain simply because he would be the first African American president or if voters truly favored the ideas he brought forth. Before the 2008 election, while the campaigns were ongoing, the idea of Obama going into office was frowned upon by most Republicans because it was questionable whether or not he was born on American soil. Some people despised him because they think the American President should …show more content…
The only thing I favored about his entire campaign was his support of gay rights, because that would directly affect my life as a lesbian; if gay marriage becomes legal nation-wide, I will be able to marry my girlfriend and our marriage will be legally recognized in any state we choose to reside. The Affordable Healthcare Act, Obamacare, is President Obama’s attempt to reform the health care system by providing more Americans with affordable health insurance; on July 15, 2009, he stated, “If you like your doctor or health care provider, you can keep them. If you like your health care plan, you can keep that too.” We later found out that his statement was completely bullshit because when you were trying to set up your new insurance plan under the new system, you were being forced to change your doctor, health care provider, and plan. For some average families, the cost of their insurance did decrease; however, my father is a business owner and according to the government, we have too much income; therefore, the new healthcare system actually increased our cost of insurance by thousands of dollars so that the cost will decrease for the low-income families. Obama is an advocate of taking money from the wealthy families and spreading the wealth around to the less fortunate

For example, the cooperative system formed with American allies has often been described as timid and not nearly aggressive enough, and that Obama is not spreading American influence to allied countries as much as he could be. Another issue people seem to have with Obama’s foreign policy is his so-called ‘imperialistic’ policies, despite his blatant criticism and disdain for the former president, George W. Bush, who was infamous for the ‘Great Recession’ he plunged the country into. Obama’s domestic policies are also something to be heavily considered. A strong domestic agenda can make or break a country from the inside.…

When people began judging president Trump for the idea of a ban on Muslims entering the United States, he quoted as a relevant historical event, World War II and the proclamations issued by then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt empowering the authorities to send away Japanese, German and Italian immigrants. In 1942, Roosevelt delivered an executive order that sent Japanese-Americans, many of them families that had been settled in the United States for generations, they were sent to so-called internment camps established along the West Coast. Trump described Roosevelt's policies as "far worse," but history experts have suggested the former president's wartime decisions weren't a good example for Trump to use at all. While Americans initially…

After doing this, he encouraged members of Congress to pass the health care reform he was proposing. Apprentice your perspective Kristin, I feel that many people of the lower class did like him. I mostly feel they liked him because he was trying to fix the economy, but mainly his efforts were directed towards the lower class rather than the higher class. In my point of view the rich are usually used to getting what they want no matter what the cost and when they saw that they were not being accommodated like their used to it seems like they had a backlash against the president.…

The great minds of PBS documentary workers made the film Divided States of America and published it on TV for viewers to watch January 16 and 17 in 2017. This documentary covers a drastic period of time in America, from the rise of Obama to the rise of Trump. It gives very detailed information about Obama’s time in office and what went his way, and what didn’t go his way. The events Obama faces in this documentary are breathtaking, frankly I barely even knew of any the events that he had to face and the mountains he had to climb to remain president of our country for eight strong years. I agree with practically everything Obama had put into effect or resolved, especially being the first African American president of the United States.…
