Plug In Cars

The plug-in hybrid is the way to go The future of automobiles is changing very rapidly. With a demand for less pollution and more efficient vehicles, we need to have alternatives to petroleum powered vehicles. As of now there are a couple of choices to choose from. You can currently buy a pure electric vehicle, a plug-in hybrid vehicle, or a regular hybrid vehicle, as an alternative to standard gasoline powered cars. Of the choices listed, the plug-in vehicle, is the best option for an alternative to standard petroleum vehicles. There are many reasons the plug-in is best, but the main reasons are; most people are not ready to transition to a pure electric vehicle yet; plug-in vehicles are very efficient; and plug-in vehicles reduce pollution. …show more content…
The pollution created by most petroleum vehicles is a big cause of global warming. As pointed out by: Siena Kaplan, Brad Heavner, and Rob Sargent, "Plug-in cars ... produce less global warming pollution, emit little or no pollution from the tailpipe, and reduce our dependence on oil” (Plug-in Electric Vehicles Will Reduce Air Pollution). One of the most important things we need to consider, is where we get our energy. Some parts of the country obtain their energy from coal; which is not a clean source of energy for pollution reduction. The energy source we need to advance in, is clean energy. As Siena Kaplan, Brad Heavner, and Rob Sargent, state: “If we clean up the electric grid by reducing our use of polluting energy sources and increasing our use of clean energy sources such as wind and solar power, we can maximize the environmental benefits of plug-in vehicles” (The Advantages of Plug-in Cars). This would help slow the progress of global warming significantly. Pure electric cars are just as beneficial. The only problem with pure electric cars, is most people need a vehicle they can use without the anxiety of being restricted by range. This is why plug-in car are such a great alternative. Another thing Siena Kaplan, Brad Heavner, and Rob Sargent, speak about is the air quality and how plug-in cars can …show more content…
The plug-in vehicle can help to get skeptics over their range anxiety. The fact you can drive in electric mode for most of your daily needs and then take a cross-country trip the next day is very appealing. The cost per mile to drive electric vehicles versus gasoline vehicles, makes the plug-in car, a much more efficient choice. Concern for global warming is the highest it has ever been. We need to focus on using clean energy sources when trying to reduce our current pollution levels. The plug-in vehicle, gives you the choice to have it charge from windmills, solar panels, or from the grid, which would contribute to cleaner air. By using clean energy sources, keeping daily trips below the battery range, and educating more people about buying plug-in vehicles, the plug-in hybrid vehicle, will be the car that takes us into the

Hence, there is not a consensus on which technology that a company uses resources to achieve this efficiency. Some companies choose to invest in motors that use hybrid fuel, others in advancements in the internal combustion engine, and those who believe that hydrogen engines are the future. Ultimately, it will be the consumer who chooses the winners and losers in these endeavors. Whichever technology prevails, it will have to greatly increase the efficiency, be easy for the consumer to implement, and also be affordable to the majority of buyers. Certainly, the cars of today are vastly different than the cars of 10 years ago.…

According to the article in 2025 all car companies will have the cars going 54.5 miles per gallon of gas. I think that this is important because it's not only good for the environment it's also good for us because we don’t have to pay as much money when we are driving our cars. Another fact from the article is that we are starting to use wind and solar energy which can also be the start of solar powered cars. This is important because this could be a start in not using so much gas on cars. This will definitely impact our world because with this big change there won't be as much polluted air, ground, and water…

According to Henry Lee, the director of the Environment and Natural Resources program at Harvard University, electric vehicles could make roads by 2020 to 2030, but instead for now car-makers should focus on manufacturing increasingly efficient gas-powered vehicles. Walter McManus, an economist and a former market analyst at General Motors, praises the Obama administration’s new fuel efficiency standards, to double fuel efficiency for U.S. cars and light trucks to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. “Manufacturers will have to make everything lighter across their fleet… They’ll have to address all of the ways that today’s cars use energy,” he deducts.…

An investigation was done in the areas of types of benefits suggested by many consumer trends, and the future of hybrid technology. A focus group of people who in recent times bought cars, both hybrids and non-hybrids, revealed what consumers look for in their cars. Study of the needs of hybrid technology helped determine how feasible widespread change to hybrids would be in the future. With all the information taken into account, I concluded that hybrids have several issues that offset their fuel efficiency. Their higher cost both turns consumers away and makes the vehicles a less attractive economic investment.…

Automobiles have not changed much in the last 60 years. While they have gotten faster, safer, and more efficient, there have not been any major changes in the technology used since the first cars were brought to market in the early 1900s. They still use an internal combustion engine, use gasoline as fuel, emit exhaust that harms the environment, require fueling up at gas stations, need oil changes, and have many moving parts, making it more likely something breaks and needs repaired. It is time to revolutionize the automotive industry and fix all of these problems and more. There is one type of car that can do that: electric cars.…

With all of the technological advances, environmentally, healthily and economically electric cars do benefit the entire population and also help reduce the toxicity that the planet is now having to deal with because of all the pollution man-kind has created. Ecological Factors The use of an electric car allows to reduce the amount of toxins that are released into the atmosphere compared to all the toxins that are emitted from regular gas vehicles. While using gas, you don’t only hear the toxins but you can actually see what is coming out of your car’s engine.…

Compared to the late sixties American muscle cars that our grandparents and parents grew up with we are starting to see a consumer trend towards the smaller carbon foot print. While electric cars have been in existent for a couple hundred years now, they have never been as consumer friendly as they are today (Electric Auto Association, 2016). Although electric cars still have limitations there are many more consumers willing to live with those limitations than ever before. Electric car sales are still at less than one percent of auto sales monthly but that number is consistently climbing, even with low gasoline prices. I would certainly own an electric car but the overall cost and limitations of an electric car would greatly impact my life.…
