In recent years, there is a common surgery in the society, which is plastic surgery. a great deal of obese people undergo plastic surgery. While some studies indicate that plastic surgery can change the appearance and shape. However, some researchers have pointed out that surgery brings health problems. This essay examines both the benefits and disadvantages of plastic surgery on obese people's physical and mental health and based on these views made some suggestions.

Faced with the mental health problems of obese people, plastic surgery is an effective solution. Donna (2003) mentions that “Social problems encountered by people who are obese are prejudice and discrimination”. which means obese people grow up under defeat and failure because they are often discriminated against and made fun of their appearance by others. Appearance problems caused negative emotions, which affect mental health seriously. Pavan et al. (2013) point out that obese people are willing to perform surgery to improve appearance because …show more content…
The most significant aspect of cosmetic surgery is to improve the appearance, which can increase the self-confidence of obese people, and even improve mental health and increase one's connection. The risk seems to be more related to health, including the sequelae of surgery, which not only causes the inconvenience of life but also requires long-term care. By comparing the benefits and disadvantages, it can be concluded that the positive effects of plastic surgery outweigh the negative ones. To reduce the risks associated with plastic surgery, it is recommended that obese people understand more about the risks and effects of surgery before surgery. The government should strictly manage cosmetic companies and formulate regulations. Prevent high-risk surgeries and education, improve the values of obese people, and encourage them to improve their physical
