Argumentative Essay: No Phones In School

Growing up, I was introduced to the new generations of phones, along with millions of other kids my age. My parents always told me that phones should never be allowed in schools. From the first day of grade school to the last, the main thing that I remember was one of the main rules, No Phones In School. While I was growing up, I truly never knew what the big deal was with people and their phones. I knew my parents had phones for work and my cousins had phones to call their parents, but in the end I still did not know what the big deal was. It shows that, yes phones can cause student to have a difficult time focusing on their academic careers ,but at the same time the article shows that mobile devices can benefit students with their school work. An example shown was a teacher that gave a history lecture in which a question was posed to the professor that no one knew the answer to. A student pulled out her phone to look up a way to find the answer. She ended up coming upon a historical department located in the area of which the class was studying. She used her phone to call the institution to ask them if the question had an answer. The answer was received and the entire class worked together to solve the problem in which they faced. This is a prime example of how phones can be a positive aspect of the school curriculum. By looking at this article my thoughts may have changed as to whether phones should be allowed in schools, but I will have to do more research in order to come to my final conclusion. Whether or not to allow phones or any mobile devices in school is a debate that has existed as long as phones have been in existence, it is hard to believe that this problem will be solved any time in the near
