A sex offending is the commission of acts of a sexual nature against an individual without consent. When we think of Sex offending, we think of a child molesters but this term basically refers to anyone committing any sexual offense. There are many types of sex offenders and these may include those who commit offences against children, adults or even offenders who commit sexual murders. According to Palermo and Farkas, “sexual offenders belong to the group of paraphilias which is comprised of various types such as pedophilia, exhibitionism, voyeurism, frotteurism, sexual masochism, transvestic fetishism, sexual sadism, fetishism, and zoophilia” (42). People who are considered Pedophilia go through different trauma. They face different types of discrimination such as aggression and viewed as dangerous people. They experience distance from the society, or even the people in the society feel angry towards them. Most of the time people tends to avoid talking or have any contact with Pedophilia person, they are being viewed as the worst people and do not deserve to live. They are also being stigmatized and deny services in the community such as job, housing, and equal opportunities. Such denial could also lead to social isolation for Pedophilia person. They become lonely and feel neglected which can also lead to illnesses or mental disorders. As a result, such act increases the level of loneliness and self-esteem among sex offenders. They feel isolated by the people around them and the community. One of the greatest strategies that can be used to eliminate sex offenders from re-offending is to create a group of volunteers. These volunteers would play a role of working together with every victim of sex offenders. This will allow sex offender to feel that they are being welcome and accepted by the community.
