This perception is what is commonly termed as the “white privileges.” African Americans also use this same term because in our eyes whites do have more privileges. In addition, the American system of education enlightened me of the fact that ethnic background and racial disparity is not ideal for the betterment of a society. Hence, the oppression of the minority groups should not be conceptualized in terms of extermination or expulsion of the blacks. I count myself lucky to part of the subordination group on the basis that it would encourage me to sensitize the humanity on the social significance of race in regards to economic growth and development.
Growing up I was taught several ways to deal with oppression through the different struggles I faced. My mother taught me that I did not have to be a product of my environment that the dominant group created.
