The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Power

The basic principal behind the Light Water System is simple. Water is heated up using an artificial chain reaction in the core, Nuclear fission continues this reaction by releasing several million times more energy than any chemical reaction could (Kurzgesagt, video: 1/3). This heat converts the water into steam, turning a turbine, which continues to the generator and so forth.
The Light Water Reactor became the most common thermal-neutron reactor because of its simplicity and low cost. Consequently, it is neither the safest, most efficient, nor technically elegant nuclear solution (Kurzgesagt, video: 1/3).
Currently, we are faced with the choice of either; The expensive repair/replacement of our aging reactors, such may include upgrading reactors with more efficient, but less tested models, or move away from nuclear power entirely to either continue Oil and Coal burning, or towards new technologies such as Hydroelectricity, Solar, Wind and other renewable sources of energy.

Who’s findings resulted in two large, Hiroshima and Nagasaki being wiped out by only two bombs. After this, Nuclear Reactor technology has always been in close marriage with Nuclear Weapons. This marriage of the world’s best power generation source (in terms of output and current availability) and the world’s strongest military armaments is nearly impossible without access to reactor technology. The Nuclear non-Proliferation treaty was designed to allow the peaceful spread of reactor technology, without the underlying intention to generate nuclear weaponry. However this treaty has worked with limited success, as some countries such as: India, Israel, Pakistan, South Sudan and North Korea all choosing to not sign this agreement (Wikipedia, Nuclear non-Proliferation
