The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Power

As of today, Nuclear Power is one of cleanest and most environmental friendly sources of energy. This is because it produces fewer greenhouse gases during production of electricity (CFF, 2017). More production of nuclear power plants would be able to help with the rising demand for clean and renewable energy. However, due to the accident that happened to the Nuclear Power plant in Japan, many people are hesitant about furthering production because people believe there are ethical issues that are involved. Nuclear power can be very environmental friendly, but like the accident in Japan, it could have many dangerous factors if accidents were to occur. For example, uranium is what fuels nuclear power plants, if an accident were to occur and the uranium were to leak out, people exposed to the radiation isotope could have short term and long term effects due to the exposure. …show more content…
Politics and ethics play a huge role in this decision because 1) future finances and political opinions, and 2) Before production, the government would have to think about the environmental ethics that would need to be addressed to ensure all safety measures are taken.
It always amazes me that the growing demand for clean energy is only on the rise. We have found many different ways to produce clean energy, but Nuclear Power is actually the most environmental friendly source of energy that we have been able to produce today. I say that because even though we already have a form of clean energy, it has not been largely produced simply because people are scared of "nuclear power."
This just makes think that in order to save energy, we are going to have to make some sacrifices in order to obtain more environmental friendly
