In nuclear plants they split the cells of uranium in a process called fission. Fission is splitting cells of atoms to create energy, this energy is important and useful because it helps power our homes and businesses. By powering our homes it helps us to do the simplest of tasks, such as; turn on the light, cook our dinner, and even charge our cellular devices. Another use if for nuclear weapons, by building and using nuclear weapons we as a country can help protect ourselves and others. Nuclear uses uranium (the isotope uranium-235) in a controlled plant to split the atom (isotope) to create energy. The plant uses these process in water to ease the process, in where the isotope splits it releases neutrons and heat. This is a process that continues releasing even more neurons and heat. After this the heat is then used to spin a turbine to create power to then create energy. By using nuclear fission energy it could last longer and use less of the governments money.
Although many energy sources do carry significant human health and environmental risks. Out of all energy uses nuclear fission is the lowest greenhouse gas emissions allowing for more healthy and safe use. While being gentle on the environment, is a plus of nuclear energy, disposal of radioactive waste and protecting people and …show more content…
Nuclear energy has the least effect on nature since it doesn’t discharge any gases like methane and carbon dioxide, which are the primary “greenhouse gases.” Nuclear power produces very inexpensive electricity. The cost of the uranium, in which utilized as a fuel in this process, is low. Also, even though the expense of setting up nuclear power plants is not costly, the expense of running them is quite low. As well It is also estimated that with the current rate of consumption of uranium, we have enough uranium for another 70-80
