In 1884 Nikola Tesla went to New York to work with Thomas Edison to discuss the Alternating and Direct current. Tesla told Edison that Direct current was not safe, and Edison said the Alternating current was dangerous and impractical. This means that they both had different opinions about the others current. Edison started the war of currents, which was a battle to prove whose current was better. The Alternating current lets strong electrical currents be sent long distances, but Direct current only was used locally and relied on many electrical stations to distribute the current. This is significant because this was a way of proving who was right. The Alternating current won. The AC won because it was a better current unlike the direct current with its disadvantages.
When Nikola Tesla was in his early middle ages, he came across a new type of electrical current, and a …show more content…
Westinghouse bought Tesla’s patients thinking it would help supply the world with long-distance power. This is significant because Tesla’s Alternating current can be used for long-distance power. When Westinghouse bought the patients, it created the competition between Edison and Tesla. Edison wanted to sell the current to the world, which is what Tesla wanted to do. This is important because the competition between Tesla and Edison was very strong. In 1893 Tesla was chosen to supply the World's Fair in Chicago. At the Fair, Tesla demonstrated the way Alternating current works by using the current in the lights surrounding the Fair. This meant that Tesla won the war of currents because it soon got supplied to the surrounding
