As stated in the first letter, "Tips are supposed to reflect a servers' performance", but not all customers think your best perfomance is still not their best, meaning a server could provide the most excellent service and go out of their way to make the customers' experience top-notch, and the customer can still feel that it wasn't the best, resulting in little or no tips. Then, said server is short on funds and may need to rely on government assistance.

However, another server in the same setting can provide a lesser performace, and get a higher tip than the other server. This is unfair, as one employee is making more than the other,

Waffle Now servers should have a higher payrate. The tipped minimum wage can not combat the inflation rates of today. If the tipped minimum wage has been the same since 1991, then that would mean it has been twenty-seven years since there has been an update in payment. Not to mention, that inflation has increased prices by 75% in these past twenty-four years. Waffle Now servers need a pay raise in order to have a livable wage.…

As I am approaching college, I have a lot of things to think about it. One of them being, that as soon as I leave, I am going to have to quit my food service job. I am only able to work three days of the seven, but I still do make a little bit of pocket money, which is nice. When I quit that, that little bit of money will stop coming in, and I will be forced to pay for my necessities and luxuries out of what I already have, or get another job in college, where I will have even less time. With that in mind, I do believe that a minimum wage hike should be instituted, since what is currently being paid is not a living wage for full time workers, and would be a nice incentive for those unable to work full time.…

Waffle Now Human Relations Officer, I think that Waffle Now servers should be paid the federal non-tipped wage. As of now we are being paid the U.S's minimum tipped wage. This wage has not been adjusted in years while the non-tipped wage has nearly doubled. Because us servers are being paid the minimum tipped wage we are forced to heavily depend on tips from customers. The average tip in similar resturaunts in the area is 16.6% which sounds great until you learn that you have to pay taxes on all tips, leaving you with what is actually most of the time less than the minimum tipped wage.…

The question about increasing the minimum wage is a controversial one. With the current federal minimum wage set at $7.25 an hour, and low-income earners continuing to struggle to make ends meet, proponents to a wage hike are biting at their chomps to get somewhere with the debate. Most of the time, customers do not tip the employees and the employees get an income way less than the minimum wage. These people who work as much as a middle class man does, cannot run his living with an income less than a Sirloin Burger at McDonald’s. There should be no minimum wage, making it easier for the employees to earn and the customers to interact with the employee. According to the National Employment Law Project, the government should raise the tipped wage to 70 per cent of the full minimum wage. If the minimum wage increases, the customers won’t have to tip the employees.…

When working as a server where I work we make half of what the minimum wage is;which, is $5.45 an hour. Getting paid that amount of money an hour doesn't amount to much.their checks are obviously smaller than the others working in the restaurant. Most of the money that a server makes goes to taxes, and they are left with barely anything. For a server their tips account for the majority of their income. As someone who makes his living on mostly tips it might sound obvious that I don’t want the tipping system banned, but there are a lot of people out there that think it should be. People argue that tipping is unreliable and unpredictable and that an hourly fixed rate would be better for servers. The truth is that tipping is not as unpredictable as people think and is actually much better for servers than a fixed hourly rate As a delivery driver, I have noticed a pretty big difference between the quality of my service and how much people tip. If I get there early people normally give me a better tip, and if I’m really late, I’ll get a smaller tip or no tip at all. The same thing happens with waiters and waitresses in restaurants, better service…
