Marijuana, also known as cannabis, is a flowering plant that is generally used in hemp fiber, but is popular as a psychoactive active drug when in a dried state. It usually grows about 8 to 12 feet high. It contains THC which is what induces what is a feeling of relaxation. THC is known as delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol which reacts with certain molecules in the brain to induce a high feeling. THC levels in marijuana vary. It has become a popular topic in in politics on its legality in many countries exclusively the United States. It has been considered as a dangerous drug that has addictive properties, but is it as bad as depicted it to be. This has lead people to have the opinion that it is immoral for recreational use. Many studies have gone to show that cannabis is safer than many nationwide legal drugs. With number one being alcohol. In 2014 a survey was conducted that gave the results of 7 of 10 Americans believing alcohol is more dangerous than cannabis. Studies show that they are right. Cannabis has never been proven nor cited to be the cause of any death. While alcohol kills 3.3 million people a year and continues to be legal for consumption. Alcohol poisoning is one cause of these deaths, but no one has ever overdosed on marijuana. Alcohol also has long term effects that cause chronic illnesses that also lead to death. Whereas, cannabis has been proven healthy for medical use and purposes. Another of these is cigarettes. They have also been known to lead to diseases that threaten life. These include cancer, lung failure, chronic bronchitis and more. Marijuana also never been proven to cause any of these
