Why do some people think that recreational drone flying should be legal or illegal? According to many sources many people think that drones should be illegal and have regulations. Many news and highly respected officials agree with this also. There have been many cases that lead citizens to believe that drones should illegal like the drone crashing on the White House lawn. From research of newspapers and articles flying drones recreationally should be illegal. Recreational drones should be illegal for what they can do to violate the privacy of citizens. Drones are able to spy on people by taking pictures and video.
There are major events that have happened that give plenty of reason for recreational drones to be illegal. On January 28, 2015 around 3a.m., a government official was flying a two foot wide recreational drone 10 blocks away from the White House, and eventually the drone crashed on White House grounds. The FAA thinks there should be more regualtions to ensure that drones are safe and are not putting peoples privacy at jeopardy. The FAA is issuing new guidelines restricting where and how users can fly drones. Barack Obama has also been working to help regulate the laws, “[President] Obama said he's assigned several federal agencies to work with "stakeholders" to create a framework to ensure drones are safe and aren't ‘violating people's privacy’’’(Diamond). This statement tells people that Barack Obama is onboard with the regulation and legalization of drones because he is advocating for the restrictions.
