Along with a larger gross intake, a higher standard of living for Americans would be created while intake and export within the country would increase as a result of diversity along with tourism and international travel. For those illegal immigrants that are already here, earned citizenship would be a possible way out of the shadows because it would not be practical to deport such a vast amount of people across this nation’s borders. Those living here illegally would be held accountable for their actions by having to pass background checks, learn English, pay taxes and penalties, and going to the back of the line. After meeting strict criteria to qualify for permanent residence, an individual would be required to wait approximately five years before applying for citizenship. As for those young people brought here by their parents, they would be given the chance to earn citizenship legally by joining the military or pursuing a higher education instead of being punished, for it is no fault of their own that they have been brought here. Upon reviewing these facts, one may conclude that America does indeed have a broken immigration system. A lack of security, scarce work opportunities, and a weakened economy are all accurate descriptions of the result of illegal immigration.
