Isis is taking the meanings of today to apply to the Quran which was written ages ago. Also, the Quran similarly as the Bible, has passages that have detailed things that happened in the earlier parts of history and things that it instructs its followers to do. Isis typically refers to passages of historical information and tries to use that as instructions for the way that God wants people to be. This even applies to the rape and slavery of the Yazidi women and children.
It does say in the Quran that during war, the winning side is allowed to take a reward, meaning slaves. However, Isis is only in a war in their own minds. It is a war that they created and started. So, for them this makes it possible for them to enslave Yazidi women even though the Yazidis were sovereign and had nothing to do with a war against Isis or Muslim persons of the region.
This shows that most Isis members, in actuality, don’t know anything about their own religion. This is why it easy for radical imams like Anjem Chowdry to come and influence them so easily.
