I 've been amazed by birth ever since I was a little girl. When you get pregnant, a little tiny human starts to grow inside of your tummy and that just completely amazes me! It 's been within the last two years I have become even more interested in the process. I blame my mother since I am the oldest of six children and she just had the last one eight months ago. Even though my mother has had many children, she 's never had a "home birth". Mainly because it wasn 't popular back then. Actually, she did consider home birth with the last few pregnancies, but was required to have a cesarean section for the last three babies. Anyways, I really like the idea of having a baby at home, so I did some research.

Some say they prefer the quietness of a home birth, while others say they like the assurance of having doctors. The reason those that feel like home births are the way to go is, because after a hospital birth, things get very busy. Bright lights are shown in the baby 's face and many nurses are carrying out procedures on the poor thing. This can cause a baby to shy away or even shut down from people. At home, on the other hand, there is time to be quiet and calm. Those first few moments are sacred and special to not only the baby, but the parents as well. A new baby only wants to be loved and nurtured. Those that feel like hospital births are better is because midwives or "practitioners might underestimate blood loss greater than 1,000 mL, any symptomatic blood loss or transfusion would be captured in our [the doctor 's] analysis by including the consultation or transfer of care in the postpartum period (Hutton 3).
