Curse the Dark or Light a Candle We all encounter situations, from time to time, that have negative impacts on our lives. When faced with such situations, we have two choices; we can complain about them and do nothing, or we can take some action that will make them better. It is easy to complain and feel that we have no control over what is happening to us. It is easy to feel that nothing we do will change what is happening to us. But a situation only becomes hopeless when we accept it and do nothing to ameliorate it. Everyone has heard of J.K. Rowlings, Anthony Robbins, Oprah Winfrey and Jim & Nancy Dornan. Well, maybe not Jim & Nancy because they really aren't the celebrities that the others are, but I will share a little of their story …show more content…

Joanne K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, was a single mother struggling to support her daughter Jessica on welfare. When it was published in 1992. Today He is sought after by presidents, political leaders and CEO of multinational corporations.
Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey has an even more amazing story to tell. Oprah childhood and adolescence was a living nightmare. She grew up in a small farming community where she had been repeatedly sexually abused by family members and the male friends of her mother, Vernita. How easy it would have been for her to fall into depression and give up on life. Many girls in her dire predicament had done just that, but not Oprah. Oprah had the mind and the will to survive and she did. She not only survived but went on to help many others turn their lives around too.
