As there are people who introduce guns to the airport illegally each year. According to “USA Today” 2,653 guns were found last year by the TSA at airport checkpoints, and more than 80% of those guns were loaded” (Jansen 01a). Furthermore, “USA Today” explains that “The total is a 20% increase from the 2,212 found in 2014, and the discoveries represent a steady rise from 660 guns found in 2005 through 1,123 in 2010. Given these points, I understand that guns represent a great risk to the citizens traveling, including children. Since weapons have been used in different attacks on airplanes in the United States. In addition, it is unsafe for a person to walk around people, students, kids, etc. armed. Research has found that “There are around 200 million guns in circulation in the United States, and more than a third of American households have one” (What Must Be Done 22). Additionally, 87 people a day are loose due to firearms. The simple fact that a person has a gun puts at risk every individual around at risk. There have been many cases where children out of curiosity take their parent’s gun, which ends in a tragedy, killing themselves, and family. Seeing your child being dead at an early age or injured because of a human error is something that no parent would want at any circumstance.
There have been numerous attacks in the United States due to gun possession, resulting in the death of students, the LGBT community, and many people who do not deserve to be killed in such a sad, and hard way. These individuals kill people for different reasons. Some for resentment, for mental illness, and some just for pleasure. It’s obvious that there has to be some type of law that prevents individuals to own a gun if they have a mental illness, or have committed
