Do you believe that we need gun control? Many people think that it is a problem, for several reasons like: the safety of children and being able to carry in public. Having a firearm around children is not a bad thing as long as you have it locked up with the safety on and not loaded. With carrying in public seems to be another problem for some; the FBI does over 23 million background checks for people who would want to own a firearm (Dent 1). This then works out better; there are 42 states that allow you to carry a firearm with a permit (Crime and Criminal Justice 1) and because of that many people are for gun control. Or did you know that even though you feel uncomfortable to be sitting across from a man in a restaurant with a handgun attached to his hip; he was once assaulted and now feels safer with that handgun. Many people also will be stereotypical in some situations, they will see an African American with a handgun and automatically think he will be using it in a bad manner. That is a false statement, Caucasians are more likely to carry a firearm and use it in the wrong way than any other race in the USA (Ehrenfred & Goldferb 1). A lot of people fight for their right of owning a gun, or carrying their firearm. They were given that right in the 2nd Amendment “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”. Carrying a firearm is not a bad thing, since 1991 the nation’s crime and murder rate has decreased more than half. Another good about Conceal and Carrying laws is that while carrying a firearm for protection has increased the violent crime has been dropping majorly (Crime & Criminal Justice
