One current event that is a major issue today is the Oregon Shooting. This terrible massacre happened on an early morning Thursday, October second 2015. It took place at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. A twenty-six year old man named Harper Mecer opened fire in his english class. Harper killed nine innocent victims aged eighteen to sixty-seven and severely wounded many others. Mecer later on died in a shootout with the police. Investigators have said to have found thirteen firearms connected to him. They were seven pistols, five rifles and one shotgun. …show more content…
The second amendment protects the citizen's right to bear arms. This means that the people of the United States can own and use a firearm without the government's interference for good purposes. If we didn’t have this law in the constitution none of us citizens would have a gun. The founding fathers that came up with this amendment thought that people in the future would use guns for safety and good reason. Not for fighting, violence and even death.
