In an article called “Does Gun Control Destroy Freedom,” the author states that “guns kept in a house have killed family members or friends 43 times more frequently than they have killed intruders” (Parrish). Guns will only do harm. People claim that they should have guns for self-protection but that is not what they are being used for. The framers did not intend for every single citizen to have the right to a killing machine. Many lives are lost every day because of weapons. There are many reasons, but the leading two reasons are suicide and murder. The second amendment is also really old and the framers of the constitution did not have automatic guns that could cause mass shootings. The framers might not have been thinking in that way. At the time that the second amendment was ratified, guns were just introduced to the people so the framers did not know that they would cause more harm than good and that is why the control of arms and who bears them is necessary. Also, the gun that a person has in their house is more likely to kill members of that family than any other person. “500,000 people have died in the last 14 years because of it and this is a matter that has to come to an end” (“Second Amendment”).
