The Pros And Cons Of Gun Control Laws

In today’s society, whether guns should be considered illegal has created an extensive amount of controversy. Especially, since the recent, devastating tragedies of shootings. Although many people believe gun control efforts have proved to be ineffective, and do not deter crime, more gun control laws would highly reduce deaths and arise a feeling of safety.
Based on the aforementioned suggestions, there have been different points of views in the concept. Some people support the idea that gun control laws “do not dissuade the misconduct, but it is the gun owner who deters the crime” (“Procon.org”). On the contrary, many people believe the mere presence of a gun makes “conflicts more likely to become violent and more predictable for someone to die in the process” (“Procon.org”). Guns are a “vector of violence” and most of the time people get unintendedly injured for its use creates an endangering environment (“Procon.org”). Furthermore, studies show that there are almost as many firearms in the United States as there are citizens and explains that “better equipped populations are automatically more criminal than less armed” (“Procon.org”). Truth is, you could be buying groceries tomorrow at the store and accidentally get shot because some individual wants to have vengeance toward the cashier.
Contrastingly, some people agree that gun regulation is inefficient. People argue that restricting access of arms to people might have unintended consequences. They suggest that gun control can result in becoming the “cause of the crime” (“Gogalegroup.com”). Studies reached the conclusion that by “loosening restriction to the terms on which civilians might be able to carry hidden weapons has had a significant and constructive effect on the amount of murders, robberies, suicides and abductions”
