In addition to the younger generations of kids wanting to play sports yet turning away from golf, there exist other barriers. The New York Times describes golf in a positive light with it being cheap and easy to go play on a course. Golf is for everyone that wants to play the game, and the average price to play on a course is only $40, including a cart (Pennington). This article, however has a bias perspective. Golf Property Analysts takes a better stance to the observation that younger generations do not desire to go out and play golf. The game takes too much time, costs too much money, and is too difficult to play (Hirsh). The first article is less trustworthy than the second because of the fact that the second article is able to take the …show more content…
In contrast, other sports that might give you the same exercise take less time to play and are also easier to play. A basketball game might take a quick thirty minutes. A soccer match would take the same time. And these two are easier to play with the only necessities being a ball and hoop or net, which are both easily accessible at a local park. Why would a kid make the extra effort to travel to a golf course, go through the checklist of everything he needs to do before he gets to hit a ball, and then spend an insufferable amount of time trying to keep up with trivial rules? The kid would rather shoot hoops. Adding onto this point, golf is truly expensive. It is not an affordable game for everyone that wants to play and people that believe otherwise are either unaware of others, or completely misled by costs. A good golfer requires a good set of clubs, which by themselves might cost around three hundred dollars, clothes that are appropriate to play on the course, and green fares of perhaps thirty dollars to play once a week …show more content…
The recruitment of younger golfers was a problem in the past, just as it is now, and this is why we are still currently facing racism in the sport. There is no one to begin the conversation and begin the movements that are required for golf culture to change. In the face of this crisis, Jim Rome has the potential to emerge as a prophetic figure for golf and spark the

On the green, Bagger has Hardy close his eyes and swing a putter back and forth while he places the ball in front of the putter face at the right moment. The fact that the ball goes straight into the hole is not as memorable as the feeling of the pure pendulum swing and the impact of the eventual “plunk” sound. And then there is Vance’s description of the field equating golf with a spiritual practice. For those who play the game, the movie provides a tonic through its look and…

The golf industry has much riding on the outcome of “Gregory E. Saska et al., vs. Omni Hotels Management Corporation.” Let’s call it the Poinsettia fire case for short – not poinsettia as in the red and green plant that you see everywhere in December, but Poinsettia as in the name of the street that abuts the 7th hole on the Champions Course at La Costa Golf Club in Carlsbad. The fire allegedly originated in the strip between Poinsettia Lane and the 7th fairway. Saska and company, mostly a horde of insurance companies that paid millions in claims from the freak fire that rampaged through the canyons of Carlsbad in May 2014, are suing Omni La Costa for failing to demonstrate due care in performing one of the following acts. The game of golf is almost more mental than it is physical. Having the ability to control one’s thoughts and emotions can turn good players into great ones. Many players learn how to play the game physically, but cannot ever make a leap towards better golf due to their actions and thoughts on the course. When playing bad, all it may take is a change in mindset or attitude to get one back on track. Sometimes it’s a little change in swing thought that will turn one’s round around.…

Golf is mainly funded by disposable income and because of the declining economy people have less money to spend on things that are not necessities. This brings into the light a possible price cap of around five hundred dollars. Many consumers are not willing to pay more than this price on their equipment. Imagery plays a crucial role in the ability to picture your proper swing prior to a shot. Ability to visualize the swing, or placement of a shot, before it is taken offers any golfer a clear vision of the task at hand. When visualizing a swing, or shot a golfer should think in pictures not words, physically seeing the shot take place in one’s head. Knowledge of the game is decisive, in having adequate proficiency to play each shot consistently. Club selection, as well as awareness of position on the course are invaluable to well-placed shots.…
