Whether it be the lack of wildlife such as birds or deer or the destruction of the trees and plants that hold golf courses together, many golf courses have caused more harm to areas of preservation than good. Since the inception of industrial mowers and high powered herbicides to kill weeds on a massive scale, golf courses have morphed into becoming high maintenance and potentially destructive facilities. In a simpler time, grass was kept by herds of sheep and the weeds were considered part of the game. Advancements in technology were inevitable and golf courses progressively reflected an artificial experience of the great outdoors.
