A GMO is the alteration of genetic makeup of organisms. By using segments from different sources ( such as animals, plants, microorganisms etc.), it produces recombinant DNA. Canada and the U.S have allowed GMOs, however GMO are not safe for human consumption. A study has proven that GMOs lead to gluten disorders, which affects 18 million Americans. This means that gluten allergies have been increasing since the introduction of GMO’s.
An example of an advantage is that GMO’s is that it could potentially solve world hunger millions of people have died because of Vitamin A deficiency, but because of GMO’s, there is a growth in a new product called Genetically Modified Rice, which is also known as Golden Rice. Kraft Headquarters is located in Northfield, IL, U.S.A. Coca Cola Headquarters is located in Atlanta, GA, U.S.A. Nestle uses GMO milk for their famous chocolate and hot chocolate. Kraft’s Miracle Whip uses GMO oil, corn syrup, eggs, and vinegar. Coca Cola’s Coke has Genetically Modified cane sugar in it.
