Some reasons may be for social, cultural, or psychological purposes as well as many others. Controlling of family size allows parents to have however many girls they wanted or however many boys. Statistics show that most families, when asked, want around two children one boy and one girl. If they know that by using gender selection their going to get exactly what they want, then they won’t have to keep “trying again.” Having the extra time to prepare for a babies coming by already knowing what gender is wanted before it’s even halfway developed is another big reason why sex selection is the path couples decide to go. This could be a few different reasons such as feeling more comfortable raising a certain gender, staying clear of the gender with a higher percentage rate of developing a genetic disease, or just because they want to. A significant decision made by couples is a reason to use gender selection as well. By using this procedure on a mother, the couple find strength and trust in making major life decisions, such as this, together.
