Hydraulic Fracking is a controversial issue because so little is known about it. But Fracking is some people’s way of life so we can’t just take away their jobs because they have families to feed and to take care of. But on the other hand Destroying are environment and endangering the public isn’t right either just because we need natural gas. Everyone has a side and an opinion but before making your decision on what side you’re on you should always read about it and look up facts. Fracking shouldn’t be allowed in North Carolina because the people drilling aren’t responsible enough to take care of the people and the environment due to their lust for money.
Fracking is Hydraulic drilling that goes deep into the earth. There drilling deep down to get to a type of rock called shale that when you frack it, it releases natural gas that we can extract and uses in our cars and other engine based machines. It gets its name “fracking” by fracturing

They say that the reason for lower gas prices in the United State isn’t because of cheaper ways to refine oil, but because of Fracking for shale. Where finally starting to make enough oil to where we could be independent from foreign for the first time in oil history. Natural gas could be the way to go because in the last five years the price for natural gas almost 80% and in other parts of the world its 620% cheaper. If we don’t buy foreign oil then we wont be funding terrorist organizations that have control over the oil fields that we buy from. We have no other choice but to buy from they because were so dependent on foreign oil right now but fracking is the savior to America. Fracking brings Hundreds of Billions of Dollars to Rural and agricultural families. Farmers that have shale know they can make good money by letting hydraulic fracturing companies drill on their land. ( 10 Reasons Fracking Improves American

It has become a controversial issue across America, especially in New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, states that sit on top of the Marcellus Shale, the largest known deposit of shale gas in America. There were more than 493,000 active natural-gas wells across 31 states in the United States in 2009, almost double the number in 1990. Once used rarely to extract oil from the deep conventional reservoir, now widely-used by many oil and gas companies. So why is fracking so…

Hydrofracking is a process used by oil companies to capture resources on domestic soil. It uses various methods to extract methane mostly. Controversies are around the issue because of its many pros and cons. I believe that the cons outweigh the pros in the long run and fracking should be avoided. Hydrofracking is a way of extracting methane from rocks like shale.…

Fracking, the informal name for hydraulic fracturing, is a method of extracting natural gas from the earth. In this process, a well is drilled deep into the earth to reach shale. Once it hit this level, the well takes a ninety-degree turn and runs through the layer. Water with other dissolved chemicals is pressurized and sent down the well to create cracks in the shale. This solution helps absorb the gas and is subsequently pumped back up the well to the surface (NYTimes).…

According to the Energy From Shale Organization website, “fracking supports 2.1 million American jobs and promises more energy-secur[ity] for [the] country… and will save the average American household $3,500 per year by 2025”. Moving oil production from foreign to domestic also lowers gas prices nationally, which is beneficial for the public. In fact a statistic from the Energy From Shale Organization says the fracking has already saved Americans money, “through lower gas prices estimated at $1,200 per household in 2012”. Economic gains aside, the entire world runs on oil and natural gas, without these two key components nothing could have possibly been accomplished. There would have been no industrial or technological revolutions.…

To frack or not to frack? This is a question, common amongst humanity today. Fracking is the process of drilling deep into the ground to extract natural gas from the shale down below. To extract the natural gas humongous amounts of toxic fluid, loaded with silica sand and chemicals, are pumped into the ground. This fluid is not always pumped back out of the ground and seeps into surrounding groundwater.…

It important for the United States to have more jobs because many people are unemployed and jobs are the primary source of income for U.S. households. However, anti-fracking activists claim that fracking is causing harm to the environment. Fracking is good for the United States because it helps make more energy and brings jobs and money to the United States; however, the people against fracking have some environmental concerns. Fracking is good for the US because it helps the country to make more of its own energy using fewer wells because natural gas needs are increasing, as it is being used more widely. According to the…

Although Ms. Lucia Hernandez talks about the benefits of fracking and why is America's energy solution; however, a letter to the editor presents an opposing, negative view of the process. Ms. Hernandez proves more convincing, because she uses reliable statistic and facts, while the opposing part only expresses her own opinion. To begin, the opposing party states, " Up to 40,000 gallons of chemicals are used in each fracking operation, containing a toxic bath of 600 chemicals like mercury and uranium"; on the other hand, Ms. Hernandez states, " While some people are concerned about the environmental impact of fracking, there has never been recorded a case of groundwater contamination from fracking". The opposing party makes serious…

Hydraulic fracturing in other words fracking is a technique used to extract natural gas from rocks. In the deeper layer within the earth, about 7000 feet below, rocks like shale contains gases, water and oil in their pores. Drilling companies carry out a horizontal drilling to the rock layer along with a traditional vertical drilling to create new routes or to extend the existing pipes for the extraction of natural gas. They allow these gases to escape by injecting a fluid under high pressure causing the rocks to fracture and to release resources from the rock pores where they have been trapped. A few stages of concretion are set in within the metal pipes, to seal it and to prevent any contamination of surrounding groundwater.…

It is described in “Fracking is Not Harmful to The Environment” that to make it a “below-ground fossil fuel reservoir adjacent to the wellbore [drilled hole] is fractured.” (Freeman 1). This allows the gas to come through the ground from far distances without having to drill in numerous places which cuts down on the surface damages people would have with setting up several drill sites. Another point being that it only fractures the ground and does not cut huge tunnels and underground caverns like coal mining does. Fracking does not need the amount of space a Nuclear plant does in order to work.…

The price of gas has gone down for American citizens. Kristy Hartman wrote in an article, “After five years of stability, the price of a barrel of oil has fallen by almost 50 percent, dropping from a high of more than $ 100 in 2014 to a low of $48 in January this year [2015]” (Hartman 28). Now, the Americans are able to purchase more by paying less and contributing to the economy more than they would have a few years ago when America was dependent on foreign oil. This is a win-win situation.…
