Life is full of stress. According to Daniel Kirsch, Ph.D., president of the American Institute of stress, stress includes all psychological, physiological, and behaviors that how people react to their difficult situations (Lifer, 2013). There are many reasons that cause stress: work pressures, family issues, exams, …and everyone copes with stress differently, so the impacts of that are not the same for anyone as well. However, not all stresses are unhealthy. In some ways, stress brings many advantages to people, especially eustress. Eustress is a type of the positive short-term stress. When people have stress, they are trying to understand themselves more. From that, they realize about their strengths that they didn’t have before in order to solve their problems. People with stress get ready with their jobs all the time, because they worry about what they have to deal with in the future. Therefore, they prepare ahead what they need to do to finish their jobs. Professional athletes actors/actresses, scientists, entrepreneurs, doctors, all of them utilize eustress in their lives in order to succeed. Without stress, people will not try to do their best to accomplish the jobs. “ Stress is also a vital warning system, producing the fight-or-flight response. When the brain perceives some kind of stress, it starts flooding the body with chemicals like epinephrine, norepinephrine and cortiso. Stress is response to an emergency helps you handle the crisis” (Strike,2014). In workplace or school, eustress keeps us focus and care more about what our goals are and try to do our best to reach the goals that we want. For instance, in a football game, facing with win and lose, eustress gives athletics more energy to run faster to win the game. “ Experiencing stress in sport can be a positive and good learning experience. It teaches your athlete to handle competition, defeat, and even performance anxiety.” (Greydanus,2004).
