My definitions of ethics is the cultural norms placed upon us on the way we are perceived to act. To others it may seem as though ethics does not change between cultures but situations that we face here in the United States of America are not the same as Port Au Prince, Haiti. In Haiti you don’t take into consideration the actions of others while here in America we are told to always help others when we see them in danger. I came out unscathed with nothing in my record but because they searched my bag and saw my idea they wanted to spread the word to make sure I was as hurt as possible. They even asked if I was working and where my job was located just to make sure they could completely ruin everything within my professional life. Through the whole ordeal my morals and personal values didn’t change I still hold myself in the same light and with what’s going on in the news currently I carry myself higher.
If I encountered my situation again, which won’t happen, first I would tell the person to unhand me because they are harassing me by touching me. Before I handed everything I would wait for the police to show up knowing that they weren’t allowed to search me because it is illegal since they aren’t within government payroll.
