A better transportation is one thing mankind has always craved for. We want a faster and an easier way to go from one place to another. Just imagine that you are a person that lives in the mid-1800s. You want a transportation that goes really fast and goes far distances. Taking a train would be hard because the train station is far. This means you cannot commute to far distances really quick. However, now we have a mode of transportation that is in most households. This works as easy as turning the keys on, fastening your seat belt and you're ready to go. You can go far distances quickly by this means of transportation. This revolutionary invention that changed the world is called the ‘car’.

The reason is because it uses less greenhouse gases than gasoline powered vehicles. As a fact, electric cars release no pollutants directly to the air. How are electric cars better for the environment when electricity can be generated from coal/fossil fuel power plants? According to Chip Gribben, electric cars use half as much fossil fuel even when being used by fossil fuel power plants. Also, if the energy is produced in coal power plants, electric cars would reduce as much as 22% compared to gasoline powered cars. An EU study shows that it will reduce 33% or more by 2020. Due to the development of alternative energy, fossil fuel energy will decrease by the years. Another reason electric cars are better for the environment is because it could reduce number of deaths from air-pollution. As a matter of fact, the National Academies of Sciences have discovered that the death ratio can be reduced by 70%, if we use renewable energy. Electric vehicles can help our health because it is better for the environment. It could help with health issues such as lung infections and even asthma. Lastly, the government of Canada gives rebate (cash back) towards buying an electric vehicle. This shows that the government supports electric cars because they are eco-friendly. In conclusion electric vehicles are more environmental friendly and could do an effective job in making our planet cleaner & …show more content…
A study by the NFPA says, in 2016, there were about 173,000 car fire incidents occurred in the United States alone. In fact, a big reason is because gasoline is a substance that could potentially catch on fire. In comparison, electric cars are more safe and there is very less chance of fire related accidents. In fact, according to Tesla (electric car manufacturer), there is a car fire every 20 million miles driven in average on a gasoline powered car. On the other hand, electric cars have an average of 1 fire incident at every 100 million miles driven. This means, there is 5 times less chance for an electric car to catch a fire. Also, an ordinary gas car has thin metal sheet to protect the underside of the vehicle that could lead to the fuel tank to get destroyed. As can be seen, all these reasons tell why these vehicles are safer. As a result, electric vehicles should not have any problems for

Electric cars may produce fewer emissions, but the factories that make the cars produce “8.8 tonnes” (Nikiforuk, 1) of CO2 while a gas powered car only produces “5.6 tonnes” (Nikiforuk, 1) of CO2 to make. The “battery (of an EV) accounts for nearly half of that” (Nikiforuk, 1). EVs must be paired up with factories that run on cleaner energy in order for them to make a big difference in reducing emissions. A good fix for the emissions of factories is to switch them off coal burning and onto low-carbon fuels. Hydropower, geothermal power, and nuclear power can greatly reduce the CO2 emissions produced in making electric cars.…

The average American would spend about $2000 to $4000 on gas, when it costs under $300 to change a typical EV (electric vehicle). I found that almost every plug in /EV car is cheaper than a gasoline car. Electric cars run on electric powered engines and hence there is no need to lubricate the engines. An article by “Jalopnik” says that “Electric cars just got $5000 cheaper in Colorado” Whether this is true or just a rumor this shows that electric cars are getting cheaper worldwide and how cost efficient electric cars are getting. Some examples of electric cars is the Nissan Leaf — $21,300, Fiat 500e — $24,300, Mitsubishi i — $15 495, and Wheego Whip $18,995.…

Electric cars are better than gasoline cars. Imagine the world without the harmful pollution from burning fuels that produce dangerous fumes--a world where tremendously high gas prices no longer remain, and where we don’t completely deplete the world’s scarce supply of fossil fuels. We need to prevent smog and other dangerous gases like it. Save the environment; get a battery powered…

The example shows how paying the same price for the different types of fuel can result in favorable travel distance for electricity fuel users. Maintenance costs can be very aggravating for car owners as well. The electric car has less moving parts than that of a gasoline car. The electric car has only one moving part, the shaft, that is reliable and requires little to no maintenance, while gasoline powered cars have hundreds of moving parts. Having less moving parts usually results in less maintenance needed, and less maintenance means more money saved.…

The pollution created by most petroleum vehicles is a big cause of global warming. As pointed out by: Siena Kaplan, Brad Heavner, and Rob Sargent, "Plug-in cars ... produce less global warming pollution, emit little or no pollution from the tailpipe, and reduce our dependence on oil” (Plug-in Electric Vehicles Will Reduce Air Pollution). One of the most important things we need to consider, is where we get our energy. Some parts of the country obtain their energy from coal; which is not a clean source of energy for pollution reduction. The energy source we need to advance in, is clean energy.…

Obtaining less foreign oil, as a nation will help the U.S. reduce the amount of money spent on buying and transporting oil into the United States. Especially since fossil fuels are limited resources, they will only be available a little while longer because we are using them for cars and energy . Using more electric and hybrid cars as a country will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels. Electric cars and hybrid cars also produce less noise pollution. Most cars use Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) that produce more noise than electric and hybrid engines .…
