Despite the fact that the current minimum legal drinking age is 21, there are still many young teens who are drinking alcohol in unsupervised areas like fraternity parties and house parties and engaging in dangerous behaviors like binge drinking. If the drinking age were lowered, businesses like clubs, bars, restaurants and other business would flourish due to the increase in the amount of people. This would then increase revenue for business owners especially clubs that hosts bands and the government would benefit as well by collecting greater amounts of tax revenue. As stated by Ray Waddell, “Eighteen-year-olds seek hot new bands. Clubs host these bands, but usually make their profits off the bar. Do the math” (1). Tourism in the US would also increase as more young adults would want to come here knowing they can drink alcohol like in their respective countries.
