The Pros And Cons Of Donald Trump

On January 20, 2017, those who deemed Trump's ideas absurd, were filled with concern. Two headlines drove Trump’s campaign: Immigration and Terrorism. So far, in his first one hundred days in office, he has been actively keeping his word by signing executive orders and revealing future policy for his promises. Whether he has the power to follow through with his claims is questioned by many. With Congress consisting of mostly Republicans, and all of his cabinet nominees similar in mindset to him, Donald J Trump faces an either easy four years in office, or a challenging four years without a say in what happens to America.
It is commonly said by many news companies and newspaper corporations that Donald Trump's campaign has been driven by hatred.

Republican politicians who support the ban argue there’s a “facially legitimate” reason for the policy, since Congress and the Obama administration have previously labeled the seven nations as “countries of concern.” Congress members in favor of the ban, such as Senator Steve Daines, believe Trump is using his fair use of plenary power under the circumstance that citizens feel threatened by potential terrorism. Lawyers also claim the executive order follows the Immigration and Nationality Act, which allows the President to “ban any alien or class of aliens” from the country. However, politicians on the opposing side point out the Immigration Act states the President cannot prevent someone from obtaining their visa based on “the person’s race, sex, nationality, place of birth, or place of residence.” The Immigration Ban would violate the Immigration Act along with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that protects the right of people to freely exercise their religion. This leads Americans to conclude that Trump is denying entrance to our country out of discrimination. Since Trump initially called the executive order a “Muslim Ban” in his campaign, the idea is not far fetched. Statistics posted by theatlantic.com prove, “Nationals of the seven countries singled out by Trump have killed zero people in terrorist attacks on U.S. soil between 1975 and 2015”(Friedman, “Where America’s Terrorists Actually Come From”). Hundreds of U.S diplomats agree there is no threat from the residents of the seven countries. Overall, Trump’s Immigration ban is radical, unconstitutional, and an act of discrimination. On February 9, all three judges of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the executive order, which solidifies the fact that Donald Trump does not have the power to follow through with the Immigration

The Pros of a Donald Trump Presidency American politics have always fascinated me. Where else can you find a medium that discusses some of the world's most pressing issues, while at the same time giving you an opportunity to analyze American behavior as it unfolds upon a political system that has influenced many other countries, including the Dominican Republic. But let’s be honest, politics can also be very dull, with its insipid candidates, anticlimactic voting system, and laws worded in such a way that would confuse even Joyce. Thank god for Donald Trump!…

Trump has issued new executive orders that have shocked not only Americans, but also people from all over the world. Basically what these orders are to do is that they are intended to ban Muslims from seven countries from entering the United States. Even those who have been living in America for quite a while are to be deported to their countries. What is more devastating is that students who had their student visas from their home countries to come study in the USA are no more welcomed here and have to face these new abnormal orders. I think the new executive order is definitely intended to discriminate against Muslims because there were no terrorist attacks performed from people who are from these 7 countries in the U.S.…

The article of my interest concerns the unconstitutional nature of the Executive Order that President Trump enacted in January. Earlier this semester, we discussed how the travel ban issued by Executive Order violates aspects of the constitutional law. The article by Kerry Abrams, professor of law at the University of Virginia School of Law, succinctly explains how the Executive order violates constitutional law. Firstly, the order violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment by restricting individuals from seven predominantly Muslim countries for their religion and nationality.…

When people began judging president Trump for the idea of a ban on Muslims entering the United States, he quoted as a relevant historical event, World War II and the proclamations issued by then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt empowering the authorities to send away Japanese, German and Italian immigrants. In 1942, Roosevelt delivered an executive order that sent Japanese-Americans, many of them families that had been settled in the United States for generations, they were sent to so-called internment camps established along the West Coast. Trump described Roosevelt's policies as "far worse," but history experts have suggested the former president's wartime decisions weren't a good example for Trump to use at all. While Americans initially…

The Dream Act was technically banned from the Congress there’s nothing that the Obama Administration can’t do I know that the national authority is the one that can continue to give out authorizations to DACA receivers but as far as I know is Trump gave the Congress six months before they start losing their position but Trump would save the Dreamers in one condition if the Congress doesn’t fix the situation then these immigrant children wouldn’t come to the U.S. to have better eduction and life. Obama wanted the Dream Act to work as well so more newcomers that are children can come to this country to have a inherent residency the intuitions believe that it’s an opportunity for young immigrants to go to the U.S. to have access to a better education, having a social security card, driver’s licenses, and a house to stay in the population will grow full of undocumented immigrants that’s what Donald Trump is afraid…

Sikhs are one of the brown, dark skinned people who have been the targets of anti-Muslim hate crimes. They have been misunderstood because of their beard and turban. In a 2013 survey made by Stanford University and by the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund, it was found that 49 percent of Americans think that the religion of Sikhism is a section of Islam. Sikhism and Islam are two separate religions. In this survey it was also concluded that some Americans tend to mix Sikhs and turbans with al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, The Islamic state or with the Taliban.…

This shows the purpose of Trump’s side of the argument, which is that he wants to improve America by reducing illegal immigration rates by having a permanent border wall and increase fees on all border crossings. Following up on his belief, Trump wants to construct the new immigration policy that will, in his opinion, return the safety of laws for the American people. The immigration policy also proposes the mandatory return of all criminal aliens currently subsiding in the United States. Trump recognized the Obama Administration for releasing 76,000 aliens from custody of committing criminal convictions since 2013, but still wants to continue on that action by having all criminal aliens to be deported to their home countries by cancelling visas and adding an additional committed crime to being in a country illegally (Trump 3). This further contributes to Trump’s purpose to reduce illegal immigration in the United States and putting all American citizens as a priority in this country.…

Almost every person in America knows the preamble of the Constitution, or has at least heard it before. “We the people…” it begins, which means our country is based on the principle of popular sovereignty, meaning that the citizens of the country have the final say in their government. However, some delegates of the Republican National Committee (RNC), are trying to undermine this principle that our founding fathers fought for. This process they are trying to pursue is not only undemocratic, but could also cost the party the presidency. Currently, Donald Trump has 845 delegates, only 392 shy of the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the nomination.…

On January 27, 2017, the first executive order under Trump’s presidency regarding immigration was signed. This executive order implements a temporary ban from seven Muslim majority countries for three months and prevents refugees from entering the country for 120 days. Countless people were upset by this order, including Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who filed a lawsuit against the order 3 days after it was signed. According to Ashley Carman, writer for news source The Verge, “The lawsuit will attempt to prove the immigration ban is unconstitutional and that the actions it spurs are ‘separating Washington families, harming thousands of Washington residents, damaging Washington’s economy, hurting Washington-based companies, and undermining…

What many American citizens do not understand, is the foundation of this country was built on immigration. Unless you are Native American, your ancestors once immigrated to this great country with one goal: to create a better life for themselves and their families. This remains the common goal of immigrants, as they are not trying to utilize your tax dollars or steal jobs. Illegal immigration can create issues but like many other things, it has its pros and cons. The controversy appears everlasting, as Americans have been arguing about immigration for decades now.…
