More and more CEOs, celebrities, politicians, and people in positions of power or great influence are starting to voice their opinions on the topic, and the supporters are starting to drown out the opposition, resulting in more acceptance. Further, there are a greater number of employees around the world opening up about their sexuality at the workplace, without fear of termination or discrimination due to their sexuality. Even more importantly, the LGBT community is seeing a rise and landing better jobs and being places in more positions of power. Honestly, many of these individuals do the same, if not a better job, then the heterosexual individuals who replace them or are unjustly promoted above them. Ideally, employment should be based on personal merit such as education, experience, and work ethic leaving no room for sexuality as a consideration. While workplace discrimination may never stop, there is at least the hope for some much needed change. Ultimately, the goal should be that one day everyone can feel comfortable in his/her own skin without the feeling of being discriminated against or punished for his/her personal life
