In death penalty trials, the convicted are more likely to get the death penalty because the prosecutors will work hard to make that happen, if they believe that is the appropriate punishment. If jury in death penalty cases tend to think that the person is guilty, and they should get the death penalty, convict’s fate is sealed. Some jury members might be reluctant to that though, which might lead to mistrial(Blum). Henry Lee McCollum is one the convicted who was recently released from the death row in America after a DNA test proved his innocence. He was poor and mentally ill, and he confessed doing crimes he didn’t commit.
