Communication is what keeps the modern world together; with a cell phone people on opposite ends of the earth can have a conversation within seconds. The networking abilities, which cell phones are extremely capable of, allow a user, such as an irrational high school student, to share graphic, personal, and sensitive content about someone on the internet. Content such as this can be easily downloaded from the internet and saved permanently as well as shared through text message or emails. Cases where people harm or harass other people using electronic devices are called cyberbullying. Why do people cyberbully? Reasons for cyberbullying are a lot like the reasons for physical bullying, students may do it for revenge or to make themselves feel better about their circumstances, or maybe he or she was bullied as a child. Most bullies all share a common nature; they pick someone who appears vulnerable and bully that person until their own feelings of superiority are satisfied. For instance, in Massachusetts, a foreign student name Phoebe from Ireland was relentlessly tortured, humiliated, and harassed by her peers through a combination of physical bullying and cyberbullying to the point where she committed suicide. High school students who find this text applicable to themselves should prioritize education instead of cell phones, and limit their use to outside of school and study times. Cell phones could be a solution to the outdated class room, but unfortunately it is apparent they are too tempting for distraction as well as disruption among students. A classroom absent of cell phones may be more conducive to the education of high school students. In conclusion, it can be found that cell phones are detrimental to a student’s education personal lives when used in school. Although cell phones do possess technological competencies that surpass the knowledge of the teacher, moreover they seem to be too high of a risk to be allowed in school due in part to their negative consequences on education and their potentially dangerous effects on high school students’ personal
