Technology In Society

When we wake up, what’s one of the first things we do? Most of us can answer this by checking our phones for the notifications we missed while we slept. If not, it is usually one of the first things we do sometime within the morning to prepare for our day. What about when we have a few minutes in between activities, such as work or class? What about when we’re home and have a night off? We usually end up using technology in some way, whether it’s watching Netflix with friends, staying in touch with long-distance friends and family, or even checking online news for the latest score for a game. On one hand, it creates more jobs for those within the technology field as mentioned earlier. However, the technology being created is replacing workers that were responsible for doing certain tasks. Before technology advancements, people were responsible for working out in fields and other manual labor jobs. Now, a machine has the capability to do that job at a faster rate and the work most likely ends up better. What happens then to those workers? I believe the pros of technology in society make the cons worth it. Not to say that I don’t care about this plant because I do, but I also believe we should be more conscious of what we’re doing to the planet and to ourselves. We certainly need to be more environmentally friendly and make sure what we use helps the planet, as well as set our devices aside from time to time. We can’t forget, though, that technological innovations further advance our world into something we didn’t even think was possible.
