Should college athletes receive compensation for hard work that they put on the field or the court? Honestly i’m stuck in the middle of if athletes deserve a reward for their hard work. It isn't that fair if the NCAA gets to make money off of these athletes from selling jerseys or adding them into video games or selling toys of them. Any form of merchandise sold that represents a player; the money goes straight to the NCAA. The NCAA has rules on college athletes receiving compensation with a consequence of being ineligible for their sport. The NCAA is very strict about the rules that they have created so have the Athletes receive any form of compensation is against the rules.The reason of colleges to have sports is because of these athletes are still amateurs. They are working up to the level of perfection and becoming professional. They don't receive compensation because that's what they are working to get in the future if they work hard enough to become professional and get to that level of excellence However, I do think that the Athletes deserve some kind of reward for the way they play.

Personally, I think that if college athletes were paid now on how they were playing, they wouldn't play as hard because they are already receiving money. College athletes would not be responsible the amount of money they make either. They would start spending money on cars and lifestyle accessories. The athletes are still too young to be receiving large amounts of profits. This is why the NCAA set rules on athletes and compensation. It is set as rule that if you are an amutuer then you cannot accept any pay for that competition of the sport that you are playing in.
