Fixing Climate Change

China and the United States bear the greatest brunt of fixing climate change. I am very liberal which means that the two greatest superpowers that are china and the United States did infringe in the lives of the people that they are supposed to protect. If we don’t fix this issue then scientist believes that humankind will not have an earth to live on anymore in the near future. In the article, “New age of water wars portends 'bleak future '” by Nafeez Ahmed states “The world is already in the throes of an epidemic of local and regional water shortages, and unless this trend is reversed, it will lead to more forced migrations, civil unrest and outbreaks of conflict”. This is why the world should work together to combat this world crises and …show more content…
The United States and China have both argued on who should take the action to promote climate change. Marco Antonio Rubio was a junior United States Senator from the state of Florida and a runner for the 2016 presidency election. Rubio stated the bottom line in the CNN’s GOP debate by stating, “Economy must come first.” which portrays that the United States will not put their economy at risk in order for America to be a harder place to create jobs and an dead weight policy that will do nothing to change our climate or our weather. Marco Rubio ends his statement by stating that “America is not a planet.” which portrays that America is not the center of the universe but a country that is not the only country on mother earth. In the article “Stopping Climate Change ‘Almost Impossible’ If China Can’t Quit Coal, Report Says” by Emily Atkin states, “If China doesn’t begin to limit its coal consumption by 2030, it will be “almost impossible” for the world avoid a situation where global warming stays below 2°C.” which by comparing the data in the article it conveys that in 2011about one-fifth of the world’s total fossil fuel carbon dioxide emissions came from china. China’s coal was responsible for more than 80 percent of the country’s 8 gigatons of fossil fuel emissions that year. This data is from 2011 but if china releases more gigatons of carbon emissions which Atkin states, “If China goes beyond 15 …show more content…
has caused more global warming than any other country. Here’s how the Earth will get its revenge.” shows and conveys data from the 1850 to the year 2011, the United States as single country produced about 27 percent of the total carbon dioxide emissions of the world and no other country was close to touch us. The United States producing and releasing more carbon dioxide emissions than all the European Union combined which is 25 percent but we should not view these numbers by nation but as a global scale. The general question surrounding the prevention of climate change is whether the earth can avoid a 2°C. To avoid a 2°C increase in the Earth’s temperature the U.S. needs big action now. In the article, “Five Steps America Must Take Now to Combat Climate Change” reveals five possible ways to combat climate change and they are implementing a Greenhouse Gas Fee that puts a price on climate change-causing emissions from all energy sources, government-backed National Green Bank that will provide greater certainty for renewable energy investors at no net cost to the American taxpayer, increase investments in public transportation by $1.5 billion per year, repealing environmental regulations that a couple of them are the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act, scrap fossil fuel subsidies. China on the other hand should also implement some or most of these regulations also in their country. Here’s how the Earth will get its revenge.”

Mark Bittman, author of the article “The Aliens Have Landed” published on the New York Times April 2, 2014 issue, argues that we need to take action to stop climate change. Bittman begins to support his argument by comparing our ignorant behavior towards climate change to the “retreating French” during World War II. He then informs the recent news from the Panel on Climate Change to emphasize the negative effects, and sarcastically compares them to aliens invading Earth. He next proposes a public works project and provides several examples of what can be done to start addressing climate change before it is too late. The author’s purpose is to…

To reduce the use of fossil fuels, we must convince US Congress to reduce co2 emissions by converting to renewable energy sources in our industries. Yet, our government continues to dismiss the existence of global warming. Speaking of government attitudes concerning this topic, President Trump proclaims in a tweet that we, "could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming." In response to recent cold fronts in the US.…

According to Pope Francis, the issue on “climate change is a problem that can no longer be left to a future generation.” He wants America to use the innovation and leadership to “avert the most serious effects of the environmental deterioration caused by human activity.” Pope Francis wants action and the cost of this will lead to an American family spending about $700 to $1,100 more a year. He says that there is a moral case for addressing climate change and “ the environmental challenge we are undergoing, and its human roots, concerns and affects us all.” If Americans find a better way to conserve resources and energy cheaper, then the costs in the economy will be less.…

There has been an unprecedented amount of evidence that our Earth is heating up due to global warming causing hard to repair damage to the world. According to Van Jones, author of The Green Collar Economy we must take action now. The rising temperatures are melting the ice caps at alarming rates they are also allowing there to be a rise in bacterial plant diseases that ruin crops, and disease carrying insects. These insects can ruin more crops, as they are active for a much longer time. We humans add about seven billion tons of carbon to the atmosphere every year.…

It is known that 97% of scientists will argue that there is solid scientific evidence that supports the idea of global warming. Nevertheless, there are still a large number of politicians, including the President of the United States of America, who believe global warming is a big hoax. Nicholas Kristof, a reporter for the New York Times, discussed this issue in his article “We Don’t Deny Harvey, So Why Deny Climate Change?” where he informed his readers that climate change is real and we need to do something fast because it is partially to blame for catastrophic storms such as Hurricane Harvey.…

The temperature on earth has increase dramatically that caused by greenhouse gas or CO2 emission (Carbon dioxide emission is the greenhouse gas produced by human activities) is a negative externality problem that affects the world. Not only it damaged the atmosphere and cause of melted of ice from the north pole due to the changed of warmer weather that is significantly the main reason of natural disaster in the future but also impacts humans’ health. Therefore, it is governments’ responsibility to help companies produced…

Teddy Willcocks Y1 Civics Ms. Marshall Essay Climate change affects everybody and everything all over the world and is impacting how we live our lives. Around the world, we need to tackle the issues of climate change and alter the way we consume and dispose of resources. The pollution we create from factories and vehicles goes up into our atmosphere and creates a barrier of greenhouse gas. When the sun 's rays come to earth and then radiate back out to space, they can’t go back because of the one way, very thick greenhouse gas barrier. The 20 warmest years ever have happened since 1981 and with 10 of the warmest happening within the past 12 years and this is continuing to get worse as the years go on.…

As some of the biggest contributors to global warming, multiple countries, including Canada, have not done enough to reduce the international problem of greenhouse gas emissions. Too much non-renewable energy is being used and, as a developed country, Canada has little to no resilience in terms of transportation usage such as cars, trucks, and planes; this significantly increases our GHG (Greenhouse gas) emissions through the pollution caused by fossil fuels. According to some sources, we have the “8th largest ecological footprint”; if the entire world lived like Canadians, “it would take 4 Earths to support the demand” (CBC). It is unfair for an already developed country that caused this problem to be doing the least to repair the biological health of this planet, when some developing countries, such as Singapore, are doing their best to prevent a dreadful future for all of humanity. Between 2005 and 2011, Canada’s economic status grew by 8.4% while its GHG emissions decreased by 4.8% (Government of Canada).…

While analyzing historical texts, one should always proceed with caution, and read tentatively; specifically, due to misinterpretations, false translations, and basic human error, verbal speeches delivered in previous centuries tend to succumb to inaccuracies, which leads to false transcripts of the actual work. Despite this, one can still appreciate the words of Chief Seattle, the Native American chieftain of the Suquamish tribe, in his speech Address, which was presented to the European settlers in America circa 1854. In his speech, Chief Seattle presents his beliefs concerning the white settlers wishing to purchase his tribe’s land in order to create modern cities and European infrastructure. In return for access to their land, the settlers…

From the start of the 1900s to 1950, world population began to experience an exponential increases, more than doubling from one billion in 1927 to two and a half billion in 1950, the year carbon dioxide started reaching record concentrations (“World Population” 1). As carbon dioxide levels rose, the population would reach just over seven billion. This correlation occurs because as more people populate the earth, more people are driving cars, burning fossil fuels, and removing forests, which releases greater and greater quantities of carbon dioxide each year. While many are skeptical of the realities of climate change, ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree…

Though there are fears surrounding this, there is some hope in the fact that the U.S. dropping out could cause China to take leadership for the future of the world’s climate. There is also the knowledge that America dropping out will not stop individual states like California from continuing its effort to reduce emissions. Global warming has been a concern since the 1800s, but it was not a large concern until the first IPCC (International Conference for Parallel Processing) reports in 1988. Soon after the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) found that if we raise the Earth two degrees above what it was before industrialization, we will see large, harmful changes to our current environment.…
