The United States and China have both argued on who should take the action to promote climate change. Marco Antonio Rubio was a junior United States Senator from the state of Florida and a runner for the 2016 presidency election. Rubio stated the bottom line in the CNN’s GOP debate by stating, “Economy must come first.” which portrays that the United States will not put their economy at risk in order for America to be a harder place to create jobs and an dead weight policy that will do nothing to change our climate or our weather. Marco Rubio ends his statement by stating that “America is not a planet.” which portrays that America is not the center of the universe but a country that is not the only country on mother earth. In the article “Stopping Climate Change ‘Almost Impossible’ If China Can’t Quit Coal, Report Says” by Emily Atkin states, “If China doesn’t begin to limit its coal consumption by 2030, it will be “almost impossible” for the world avoid a situation where global warming stays below 2°C.” which by comparing the data in the article it conveys that in 2011about one-fifth of the world’s total fossil fuel carbon dioxide emissions came from china. China’s coal was responsible for more than 80 percent of the country’s 8 gigatons of fossil fuel emissions that year. This data is from 2011 but if china releases more gigatons of carbon emissions which Atkin states, “If China goes beyond 15 …show more content…
has caused more global warming than any other country. Here’s how the Earth will get its revenge.” shows and conveys data from the 1850 to the year 2011, the United States as single country produced about 27 percent of the total carbon dioxide emissions of the world and no other country was close to touch us. The United States producing and releasing more carbon dioxide emissions than all the European Union combined which is 25 percent but we should not view these numbers by nation but as a global scale. The general question surrounding the prevention of climate change is whether the earth can avoid a 2°C. To avoid a 2°C increase in the Earth’s temperature the U.S. needs big action now. In the article, “Five Steps America Must Take Now to Combat Climate Change” reveals five possible ways to combat climate change and they are implementing a Greenhouse Gas Fee that puts a price on climate change-causing emissions from all energy sources, government-backed National Green Bank that will provide greater certainty for renewable energy investors at no net cost to the American taxpayer, increase investments in public transportation by $1.5 billion per year, repealing environmental regulations that a couple of them are the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act, scrap fossil fuel subsidies. China on the other hand should also implement some or most of these regulations also in their country. Here’s how the Earth will get its revenge.”
