Parents have a major question facing them today, “Should I get my child vaccinated?” It is important to do so for the health of them and the people around them, and they are extremely safe for use. There are options to opt out of these vaccines, but parents really need to weigh out the pros and cons of vaccinating their children in order to make the best decision for them.
I first started exploring this belief because I chose it as a topic for one of my research papers in high school. I chose that topic because I did not have much knowledge about it, and I wanted to learn more. I went into that paper not having a solid opinion, because I did not have to facts to back one up. I do not like to state a strong opinion if I feel I do not have enough information on it; It seems more biased than an opinion if you are not knowledgeable on the topic of your said opinion. I also chose this topic because I have an interest in children and their well-being. I wanted to gain the knowledge, and I want to continue gaining knowledge, on this topic so I am able to make a thought out and educated choice when it comes to vaccinating my future children.

There have been many studies tested that show no link between vaccines and Autism (p 1).There was, however, a study done that showed a link between children with Autism and their connection to mercury poisoning. This study showed that children who lived closer to an industrial facility or power plant had slightly higher rates of Autism than the children who lived further away (par. 1). Many vaccines used to include mercury, but since 2002, most vaccines do not contain that ingredient anymore. (par 3).
