People don’t think cheerleading is a sport because everyone goes to support the players, they don’t notice the cheerleader. “Those who feel cheerleading should not be a sport claim that cheerleading's main purpose is to support other athletes, and not to compete against other cheerleading squads” (Proquest Staff). When there is a timeout, or it’s in between quarters, the cheerleaders show off what they have been working on. Another reason is many people say that they don’t have such a high risk of getting injured.
