With current events going on in America concerning the U.S. Flag in the public eye. Like athletes kneeling during the National Anthem, or citizens burning the U.S. Flag. This has brought forth the question “what does the U.S. Flag mean to you?” and “If you disagree or agree that it is disrespectful about what people are doing to the flag?” I agree that it is disrespectful to burn the U.S. flag because lots of people have bleed, fought, and died defending the U.S. Flag. Some might say that it’s legal to burn a flag regardless of who have fought for the Flag. But according to Timeinc.net “the flag is so revered because it represents the land of the free, and that freedom includes the ability to use or abuse that flag in protest.” But in 1989 George H.W. People can start locally by meeting with their mayor, and talking to he/she about what’s upsetting you about the government. If that doesn’t work you could possibly try writing to your state congressman. Then if your congressman doesn’t answer, then you can start to boycotts. You can boycott big businesses like, your big grocery stores, gas stations, or food businesses. Groups of the people can perform sit-ins at restaurants, department stores, banks, or court houses. High school or college kids could perform walk-outs, simply by walking out of their classrooms in the middle of their class. You can perform peaceful marches or stay at home from work or calling in sick to work. Start petitions like maybe “sign if you want to get a new government.” Get churches involved by hosting prayer and worship services. It’s a lot of ways to protest, but while protesting know your rights, remember to know when you have broken the law, be respectful to everyone and have a backup plan. These are all effective ways to get your voice heard other than burning a flag or
