National movements come in waves, and terrorist groups are no exception to that. Nationalist-separatist terrorism arrived in the late 1960s, coinciding with the increasing media presence. Nationalist-separatist terrorism finds a twin in social revolutionary terrorism, since the two were “birthed” at the same time, but took differing paths and developed opposing motivations. Nationalist-separatist terrorism is defined by the fact that those that are a part of this movement are following in the footsteps of their parents and continuing the missions that they were unable to complete. A plethora of the terrorist groups within this category have similar backgrounds; hailing from a nation that is oppressed by a higher political power that has continually…

No one was without blame. Each side wanted a war. Each side wanted to win. I would say the North had more to do with the Civil war than the South, due to atagonistic writers and newspaper editors. Once won the South was returned to (on paper at least) it's normal position in the USA.…

I attended the Beyond Burkas and Bombers discussion. We watched the Beyond Burkas and Bombers documentary which showed Muslim Americans talk about how their lives changed when 911 occurred. Life was never the same afterwards and many Americans grew an irrational hatred of an entire faith. Everything evil and bad was associated with anything Muslim or possibly related to being Muslim. Often Muslim Americans must answer the questions for a few individuals that committed these terrorist acts.…

The article by Tessa Stuart talks about that when it comes to mass shootings, gunmen motives don’t really matter in the end. Last week on Wednesday 14 people were killed, and 21 were injured by a legally obtained semiautomatic assault rifle. California’s gun laws do outlaw these assault rifles and are generally considered as the strictest in the country. (Mike McIntire) The problem that arises from this is that even though they were legally obtained there are loopholes when it comes to achieving in gun ownership.…

While The Second Amendment is used to protect Americans and their right to bear arms, It makes you think are our liberal gun laws, worth the ramifications on the wellbeing of society. This violence has reignited the national debate on what the country should be doing to stop this type of violence. He was accused after his fingerprints tied him to the Madrid bombing, but a few weeks later it was discovered that they had the wrong person. It is amazing how the justice system could have gotten the wrong individual with the greatest tool on their side. That comes to show that if science could get it wrong, human error through coercion is even greater. Additionally, torture undermines U.S diplomacy and it goes against our human rights: “In 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (the Declaration), which states in part that, “no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment” (Shaw 4).…

In many cases, women struggle with inequality and oppression because the government lack enforcement to protect them. In Iran as well as Nigeria, the government focuses on other elements such as economic growth rather than protection of women. The lack of government support and protection affects the inequality that women faces.
