Time Management: How To Be A High School Student

Watch any movie about a high school graduate going off to college for the first time. Mostly, enthusiastic freshmen are saying goodbye to teary eyed parents. The student will then show an initial struggle to orient themselves to college life. Ultimately, they rapidly become knowledgeable students, party attenders, and romantically involved. Nope, not even close to what college life is like. Students in high school leave with little or no understanding regarding how to be a college student. The real astonishment comes as soon as students enter a college classroom for the very first time. These students realize they have not been properly prepared for college.
The most common problem that high school graduates will notice when starting their first class is during high school many teachers will chase after students reminding them of when an assignment is due or when the next test is scheduled. This all comes back to the issue of time management which is important because it helps you with college, work, social, and personal aspects of one’s life as well. Consider a high school student who recently graduated. The student will get a job at a restaurant as a host or hostess, take three classes a week at the local community college, play a sport and have a social life. A college student will not be able to do all those activities if they can’t manage their time well. One aspect of their life will suffer whether it is their job, school, sport, or social life. Time management is essential to those who do not attend college either. This adult will likely work a job, maintain a home, socialize, and have a time to relax.
